Bridgewater Personal Injury Law Firm

The Law Offices of John C. Manoog III is a personal injury law firm whose Bridgewater accident attorneys have served clients in the community since 1994. We live in the area and have dedicated our careers to helping injured neighbors. Our lawyers have a hard-earned reputation for providing personalized, comprehensive legal services to our clients.

The town of Bridgewater is a delightful suburban community in central Plymouth County that’s home to nearly 27,000 residents. It was chartered in 1656 and named by settlers for a sister village in Somerset, England. Conveniently located near both Boston (25 miles) and Providence (35 miles), the town offers a welcoming change of pace for city dwellers and commuters, thanks to its vibrant, small-town atmosphere. The local college, Bridgewater State University, is one of the oldest in the country and recently attained university status. Author Louise Dickinson Rich, sculptor Bruce Gray, and former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe are among the town’s notable current and former residents.

Personal Injury Cases: Experience and Results

At the Law Offices of John C. Manoog III, we have more than 146 years of combined experience helping people in Bridgewater and throughout the region. We value our relationship with clients and we focus on maximizing results. We’ve previously obtained a number of six- and seven-figure settlements for the people we represent.

Personal injury cases arise under a wide array of circumstances and include injuries that range from relatively minor bumps and bruises to lost limbs, paralysis, and even death. These matters often raise complicated legal issues and require substantial medical and other evidence. Among other types of cases, we handle:

We understand just how painful and stressful recuperating from an injury can be, particularly when it happens in an accident caused by no fault of your own. The good news is that you have the legal right to hold those responsible for your injuries legally liable. That includes making them pay for doctor and medical bills, property damage, missed wages, and possibly emotional distress.

Negligence and Other Legal Issues

Negligence is a legal theory under which a person who fails to act in a reasonably safe manner under the circumstances may be held legally liable for any injuries that he or she causes. Generally, a person suing for negligence (plaintiff) must show that the person being sued (defendant) breached a duty of care owed to the plaintiff, which – in turn – resulted in clearly identifiable injuries to the plaintiff.

Massachusetts law operates under a comparative negligence standard, requiring the injured party to show that the defendant was at least 51 percent responsible for the accident. In other words, the plaintiff has to prove that he or she isn’t more responsible for the accident (by failing to properly brake before a rear end car accident, for example) than is the person being sued (the lead driver in the rear end accident, who slammed on her brakes at the last minute). In addition, there are a number of other legal issues that an injured person should consider before filing suit. That includes the specific time limits for filing personal injury claims as well as evidence and discovery rules governing how parties to a lawsuit gather and share the information they intend to use to establish their cases.
